Meet the Yale Youth Poll Team

Get to know the team of America’s largest poll studying youth, run by youth

Jack L. Dozier, Director

Jack L. Dozier serves as Director of the Yale Youth Poll. From Charlottesville, VA, Jack is majoring in Political Science, with a focus in American Government. He serves in a number of leadership roles with three on-campus organizations and is on two University committees. He holds an opinion column in the Yale Daily News, where he writes about national political movements. Jack is a junior in Saybrook College.

Karla Cortes, Deputy Director

Karla Cortes serves as Deputy Director of the Yale Youth Poll. A junior in Silliman College from Woodstock, Georgia, she is double-majoring in Political Science and History. She also serves as Director of Affairs at the Yale Daily News and worked with the Yale Policy Institute to study student experiences with anti-CRT legislation in partnership with the National Civil Rights Museum. She has spent previous summers working in political consulting and youth development.

Daniel Wang, Head of Data

Daniel, originally from Simi Valley, California, is a junior in Jonathan Edwards College studying Statistics and Data Science. In addition to public opinion, he is interested in and is researching statistical approaches to drug discovery, global health, and health policy at the Yale School of Medicine. Outside of the classroom, Daniel is involved in the classical music scene at Yale, performing in chamber music ensembles and ringing the Harkness Tower bells as a member of the Yale Guild of Carillonneurs.

Sofia Beck, Head of Communications

Sofia Beck works with the communications team for the Yale Youth Poll. She is a sophomore in Branford, majoring in Political Science from Baldwinsville, New York. Sofia is also the current Communications Director for the Yale Democracy Project, a member of the Yale Collegiate Figure Skating Club, and she hosts a weekly radio show with WYBC.

Aharon Shelef, Head of Research

Aharon Shelef is a first-year in Branford College from Madison, Wisconsin. He is passionate about mathematics, statistics, politics, and policy and loves to explore their intersections. Outside of Yale, he is deeply involved in Wisconsin politics and climate advocacy, with professional experience in political campaigns, legislative offices, and nonprofits.

Arjun Warrior, Associate

Arjun Warrior is an associate with the Yale Youth Poll. He helped found YYP and spent three semesters on its leadership team. A Yale College senior majoring in history, he grew up in southern California and has worked for several campaigns and elected officials. He enjoys cooking, poetry, and soccer.

Jason F. Lampert, Associate

 From Roswell, Georgia, Jason Lampert is a sophomore in Benjamin Franklin College, with an intended double-major of history and political science. Jason is passionate about political theory, political history, and the analysis and visualization of political data. Jason is involved with the Yale Political Union, Yale Undergraduate Moot Court, Yale Model Congress, and Yale Model United Nations, as well as serving as a volunteer tax preparer. When he is not busy, he can be found listening to 1980s music, spending time with his family and friends, or reading a good book.

Sophie Richardson, Associate

Sophie Richardson is a junior in Ezra Stiles College, originally from Concord, Massachusetts. She is majoring in Statistics & Data Science and is especially interested in social and political science applications. Sophie is a Site Coordinator for Yale Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and a trombonist in the Yale Symphony Orchestra.

Nicole Manning, Associate

Nicole Manning is a junior in Berkeley College majoring in Political Science with a concentration in social change, social movements, and state building, with an Education Studies Intensive Certificate. Deeply committed to policy analysis, journalism, and advocacy, Nicole serves as Associate Editor and Staff Reporter for The Politic. She has conducted extensive research on vaccine misinformation and anti-Critical Race Theory legislation with the Yale Policy Institute and works with the Dwight Hall Advocacy Committee to drive policy solutions surrounding education in the New Haven community.

Micah Gold, Associate

Micah Gold is a senior double majoring in Applied Math and Computer Science. He’s originally from Los Angeles, CA and is in Timothy Dwight College. On campus, Micah conducts research in brain-computer interfaces and computational archeology. He is also interested in the intersection of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and ethics. In his free time he enjoys missing free throws and playing the cello.

Kathleen Doyle, Associate

Kathleen Doyle is a junior in Trumbull college majoring in political science. She is originally from Montgomery, AL. Outside of YYP, Kathleen has worked as a research assistant under Yale’s MacMillan Center. She also chairs for Yale Model United Nations and is a member of Alpha Phi Sorority.

Sonja Aibel, Associate

Sonja Aibel is a sophomore in Davenport College majoring in data science and history. She is originally from Brooklyn, NYC and has a background in local activism and electoral campaigns. She is a teaching assistant for the course Data Science for Political Campaigns and works as a barista in her free time.

Julia Clauson, Associate

Julia Clauson is a first-year in Ezra Stiles College, originally from Sacramento, California. She intends to double-major in Political Science and History, and she is passionate about policy and youth civic engagement. Julia is also involved with Yale Model United Nations Latin America, Yale College Democrats, and The Politic.

Matthew Quintos, Associate

Matthew is a senior in Silliman majoring in Political Science from the Midwest. Matthew has interned in the U.S. House of Representatives and the White House Counsel’s Office. On campus, Matthew works in the Yale Office of General Counsel. In addition, he serves as a transfer peer advisor and on the Yale Political Science Undergraduate Advisory Council.

Milan Singh, Senior Advisor

Milan Singh serves as a Senior Advisor for the Yale Youth Poll. Originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, he is a senior in Pierson majoring in Economics. Outside of the classroom, he is a columnist for the Yale Daily News.

Zachary Donnini, Senior Advisor

Zachary Donnini is a Senior Advisor of the Yale Youth Poll and a Data Science master’s student at Harvard University. He recently graduated from Yale University, where he majored in Statistics & Data Science and Economics. Zachary has worked on the Data Science and Race Call teams at Decision Desk HQ (a non-partisan election results and analysis firm) since 2022 and works on pre-election forecasting and election night modeling. He shares his thoughts on elections and politics on his personal Substack, Data and Divergence.

Liam Richardson, Alumni Advisor

Liam Richardson works on experimental design and data analysis for the Yale Youth Poll. Originally from Phoenix, AZ, Liam is a recent graduate of Yale University, where he majored in Statistics & Data Science with an interdisciplinary focus on political attitudes. Outside of the YYP, Liam is passionate about singing: he previously sang with the Whiffenpoofs, Spizzwinks(?), and the Yale Glee Club. He also worked for the Poorvu Writing Center and hosts a weekly radio show.

Professor Josh Kalla, Advisor

Joshua Kalla is the Faculty Advisor to the Yale Youth Poll and an Associate Professor of Political Science at Yale University, with a secondary appointment in Statistics and Data Science. He received his PhD in Political Science from UC Berkeley. His research focuses on political persuasion, prejudice reduction, and decision-making among voters and political elites, using randomized field experiments. Kalla is the author of over twenty peer-reviewed scholarly essays on American politics. His research has been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR, and other outlets. He has conducted experiments with the Analyst Institute, CREDO Action, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, NextGen America, Planned Parenthood, and other civic and political groups.
